preparing for your appointment
I want you to have the best experience possible! If you have been analyzed before, you may end up in a different tone that you anticipate. Come with an open mind, and be ready to relax, have fun, and learn something new about yourself! To ensure the most accurate results, please follow the guidelines below.
Skin: Please do not spray tan, self-tan or have a heavy sunburn before your appointment. It is best to have your skin in its most natural state in order to see the effects of the drapes. As such, your skin must be free of makeup (this includes tinted moisturizer). Sometimes moisturizer with sunscreen casts a grey sheen or slight whiteness to the skin under the lights. If this is the case, I may ask you to remove it, so please bring it if you want to re-apply it after the analysis so you are set for the rest of your day. Makeup remover is available if you need it.
Eyes: If you wear glasses, they will need to be taken off during the analysis. If you are concerned that you will be unable to see clearly and have contact lenses, please wear those instead. Please avoid wearing any colored contacts that change the natural color of your eyes.
Hair: We will be tying your hair back for most of the analysis and will cover your hair with a neutral gray cap if it contains any dye or highlights.
Perfume: Please do not wear perfume or heavily scented personal care products. Some clients are very sensitive and if the smell permeates the drapes, it can be very difficult to remove.
Clothing: Please avoid wearing a high collared shirt or shirt with bulk around the neck (like a hoodie). A crew neck, v-neck or button-down shirt is best. You will be wearing a cape over your clothing so you may wish to dress in layers if you tend to run warm.
Duration: Plan on spending up to two hours for your session or longer if you are coming with a group. Due to the consultation length, it is recommended that children under 10 do not attend unless supervised by another adult. Nursing babies are welcome. Friends or family are encouraged to come along as observers. The color analysis process is quite fascinating to see! Please let me know if you plan to bring anyone along so I can plan accordingly.
What to Bring: Please bring your makeup. This is especially key should you desire a quick application for your "after" photo. You may also bring up to five clothing or accessory items to compare their colors to practice looking for color harmony with your new palette swatchbook if desired. I have plenty of items in the studio to use, though, should you not want to lug in your own.
Once your color palette is determined, we will look through it and talk about suggestions for clothing, accessories, makeup and hair color. We will take a look at your makeup to see what fits in your new palette and practice swatching the items you brought with your new fandeck.
Your session is non-refundable. I require a $100 deposit per person upon booking payable via Zelle or Venmo. The balance may be paid in cash, Zelle, Venmo or credit card. See you soon!
