Frequently asked questions AND MORE INFO ABOUT PERSONAL COLOR ANALYSIS

  • After scheduling, you will receive an email with information detailing how to prepare for your in person color analysis. It is important to note that all makeup must be removed. If you wear colored contacts, they must be removed too. Results can also be skewed if a client has any faux tanner on the skin, or has been recently sunburnt due to extended sun exposure. If you wear glasses, it is recommend you wear colorless contacts if you have them, as you will be asked to remove your glasses. Please also avoid perfume or heavily scented personal care products, as strong smells can cling to the drapes.

  • If you love the sun, rest assured your skin tans YOUR natural color! We can go ahead with your analysis regardless of how tan you are (again, as long as it’s natural - no self tanner). The TCI color analysis method will reveal colors that will look harmonious and complimentary on you all year long. Despite feeling like we look better in different colors when our skin is darker due to sun exposure (or lighter at other times of the year), this actually isn’t true! We can not do the analysis if your skin is red or pink from a sunburn, though. Please take precautions when out in the sun leading up to your appointment.

  • You may want to document getting your colors done, but the TCI analysis process and the calibrated TCI drapes that I use as a TCI Certified Color Analyst are protected, intellectual property of TCI. For this reason, they are protected from unauthorized media use.

However, you may take short boomerang videos or a picture with permission during your analysis at certain times. If desired, I can take a before and after picture that I will send after your appointment.

  • TCI does not endorse virtual color analysis (really, any color analyst worth their salt should insist on an in person analysis)! In order to achieve accurate results, in-person color analysis is imperative. It is simply not possible to guarantee color accuracy online - too many variables exist. Digital images are unreliable. Computer monitor calibration varies widely and does not present color accurately. In the studio, we go to extreme lengths to create a controlled environment - full spectrum lighting is key here - that allows us to see your coloring accurately; this is near impossible to do online or through pictures. Another bonus of an in-person color analysis in my studio in Littleton, just outside of Denver is the killer mountain view outside my studio window!

  • Nope! If your hair is colored (even in a color matching/close to your natural hair color) we will cover it during the analysis process to ensure an accurate color draping result. After we have determined which of the 12 tones is your seasonal tone, we can also discuss hair colors that fall into the range of suggested colors for your season if desired. I have hair color samples in the studio we can examine and swatch.

If your hair has naturally grayed or whitened, YOUR gray or white hair color is actually in line with your natural color harmony! We can leave your hair uncovered, and watch it harmonize beautifully with your seasonal color palette!

  • I am a certified color analyst trained in the True Colour International 12 Tone personal color analysis method. If you were analyzed in a different method, it is highly likely you will end up with a different result!

If you were previously typed in a 4 Season system (which only has options for warm or cool undertones), you will likely get a more specific (and possibly altogether different) result with the TCI 12 Tone approach to color analysis. TCI's 12 Tone method has options for neutral undertones. It is estimated that two thirds of the population are one of the 8 warm-neutral or cool-neutral tones. The TCI method is a more reliable, more detailed, and scientific approach than the 4 Season System. It's a great way to get the most accurate and specific result available in the marketplace today.

Similarly, if you had your colors done virtually or digitally, it is very likely you will have a different result. Simply put, as discussed above, digital or virtual analysis is faulty. Digital images are unreliable; computer monitor color calibration varies widely and doesn’t present color accurately; colors from the environment around us (lighting, wall color, furnishings, etc) also affect our coloring, leading to inaccurate and incorrect results.

  • Group color analysis appointments at Color Savvy Studio Denver offer the exact same content as an individual appointment, but we are able to cover the educational portions as a group. Rest assured, each client has their time in the spotlight. The same length of time is allotted for each individual’s color draping regardless of appointment type booked! Color analysis is fun to experience with a friend or loved one. Often, clients report learning even more while watching their partner’s draping.

ALL ABOUT PERSONAL COLOR ANALYSIS

AND ITS BENEFITS

WHAT IS PERSONAL COLOR ANALYSIS ANYWAY?

Personal color analysis is the process of analyzing your natural color tones to find the most harmonious colors that let your unique beauty shine through. Have you ever wondered why you always get compliments when you wear certain colors, or why some colors make you look washed out or even ill? The answer: personal color harmony and color dis-harmony. You are uniquely made!  Your natural hair, skin and eye color tones are determined by pigments found within your body. Color Savvy Studio uses the 12-Tone True Color International Method to analyze your personal coloring to help you figure out your color tone and then accurately place you into one of the scientifically organized TCI 12 Tones (12 color palettes).
